I looked through the Search options but I don't see a way to do this:
Search the Souce List Names (or any part of the citation) for a source
containing--but not beginning with--, e.g., the word "Hagers."
Am I overlooking something-- or is this just not possible?
Thanks!

It is possible to search sources? I remembering seeing a census that mentioned
a John Jackson as nephew. Now I need to find that source.

Hi Pat,
Currently not possible.
It's on the wish list.
If you've realised you've made a typo, you can Search and Replace on Sources.

Try doing a FIND for HAGERS and also put HAGERS in the replace. (ie: put
the same thing in both fields).

Pat,
Not sure how large your tree is, but if you can do a multiple descendants
report, export it to an RTF, you could search the spources at the end of the
file using the Word Processing search feature. But if you have a lot of

If the census is an image that could be tough. Nephew of who? How do
you keep track of your source documents? I doubt if this is a Legacy
issue.
If John Jackson is text somewhere on your computer, you can index and
search your hard-drive using something like Copernic Desktop Search.

Mary, I don't think you can. What I do is export everything (sources
and notes) to a GEDCOM file and then open it with Notepad (or a Word
processing program) to search with Find to look for the phrase I am
hoping to find.
An extra step, but it should be "findable" that way!

You might try search, search and replace. It depends on where the
desired data was input. Thanks for asking this, I had never used that
feature before & now I know more about it.

No, Search & Replace will not find anything (anywhere) in the same way
that Search does. When you Search, Legacy presents you with the actual

Thank you for the help. I was able to find the search and replace under Search

options were under the search button. You know what they say about "assuming."
