Thanks for all the input on my question as to whether Legacy has a truly
global Search (and Replace).
The answer seems to be No.....which I find quite astounding in such a
good program...and which is up to Version 7!
As I mentioned previously, the reason I would like to search globally is
that my input place-holder ("Mcr" in my example) could well occur in
several different types of field...such as Notes, Places, Sources etc.
All that is necessary is to have one extra option under "Where to look"
which would be "Everywhere".
No-one need use it if they don't like it...but it would be a Godsend to
people like myself (and I know I'm not alone in this!)
The possible work-around, of course, is to export to a GEDCOM, do a
Search-Replace, and then re-import...but I'm always worried about that
sort of thing....I've seen files get slightly "mangled" this way.
