Just a thought.
There are a number of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) programs out
there with varying degrees of accuracy. (Omnipage 15 Pro - Ebay £5 at
present). With newspapers, books etc they work very well.
No use for hand written documents though. For those one can use a
dictation

Thanks, but that wasn't it. The reference was for a little program
which split into two screens, one for the image and the other for
typing in the transcript. Easier than loading an image viewer and a
wordprocessor, and reducing each to half-screen size.
