Why doesn't Legacy pick up the Windows setting automatically?

That's only because you have Legacy set to a different date format
than your Windows. They must be set the *same*.

I think the calc will only work in one format setting not the one we're

computer to D-M-Y (just like what was in Legacy) and rebooted it & have
not been able to recreate the original problem. It was unusual though
that it only occured in 1993, wasn't it? Anyway, thanks again for your help.

rmats in Legacy, Americans use 1 or 3,
in Australia, we use 2 or 4 whereas the only really logical ones are 5 and
6.
Might throw some light on your problem.

Ok, this is the first time this has happened. I read a obituary that is
dated July 31, 1993 and says that the person was to be buried on Monday,
so I go to the date calculator (which I think is great, btw) and cycle
back to July 31, 1993. I select Monday and double click on it (I already
