If I'm importing stuff from a Gedcom from my dad, or from my mom I
have the import automatically source it as from a Gedcom (and from
whom) - and it puts it in the Unspecified. That is pretty much my
only use although I think for a few live people that I know I
have put a general "Personal K

It's not really *necessary* to use the field, it's apparently there for your
convenience if you wish to use it--and I do frequently. One of my most
common uses is to add a general note or comment that I hope will stand out
