I always attach mine to the Source Detail as they are, as you say, the sources.
I do not, however, use Census Events so that option does not arise!
If you wish to print them on web sites or reporrts then I guess that they will
have to be attached to the Event, but in my experience for
I have been using overkill right now and attaching the census image to both
the event and the source detail. I am not sure that I will leave it that way,
but for now, I like it. I haven't printed any reports yet, just previewed a
few, so I can't speak to that.

Claire,
Like you, I attach census images, as well as birth, death, marriage
records (and all others) to the source detail. By doing that, the image
doesn't get added to the pedigree web pages that I create through
Legacy. This is how I have chosen to attach document images. It works
for me but
