I use labels. I have a P-Touch label maker. I simply label each source with the
next number available and that number is put on the source detail in the space
called ID. I do not use MRIN's at all as they can change.

I put all my documents in the acid-free mylar sleeves you mentioned. I
have a Dymo LetraTag QX50 label maker that I use to make two labels for
each item. The first label is the MRIN number for the particular
individual that the document refers to, the second label is the FID
number

Even though I file in hanging folders, I still use archival quality
sleeves to protect my documents. My numbering scheme was published by
Geoff earlier this year. You be able to find it in the Legacy News from
April.
Keep in mind that this is what I developed on my own after trying
I use the RIN and the MRIN. I don't put the stickers on the sleeve, it is
possible that the sleeve and the document could become separated. I put my
stickers on the document copy. I also do this for my source citations. I put
these on the front of the document copy whenever possible. My only
