Hi Bruce
I also use individual numbers for filing, but early on started using
UserID's - as that way I believe I can control the numbering. The RIN is a
machine allocated number, and you cannot easily control it - for example
when you merge duplicates, or swap software (heaven forbid). With the Us
In the Edit Event screen, is Edit Event Sentence Definition. Look at Wording
Options. For the various ones with no address available, delete only the
[Address] from the sentence. Experiment

Has anyone used the Legacy sentence variable [Address]?
I wanted to use something like "[Name] resided [fromDate] at [Address]
[inPlace]. [Sources] [:IF [Notes] :: Other residents were [Notes]. ::]
Problem: I sometimes do not have a "address" and end up with the "at in"
combination.
How can I cor
Thank you - I knew I could do this for names, didn't realise I could do it for
locations as well.
Cheers

Hi J
that works fine EXCEPT if you want to use all caps on a word in one
instance but regular on other instances. Then you need to enter it both
ways in the list

Like I said, semantics. I would use the same setups as a census type, which is
a database with photos? Whatever works for you.

Scott,
I think you've done well with a complicated situation! Some of my comments and
questions would be:
The title of the website item, "Mt. Hope and Riverside Cemetery Records" should
be in quotes, IMO.
Why did you not include the stamped page number on which Mr. Oswold's name
appears?

I'm reasonably certain (since she has written about it many times on other mail
lists to which I subscribe) that Mrs. Mills would say that we are dealing
primarily with a "digital image," not a "database." She typically reserves the

Hello-
I am attempting to cite Japanese civil registration records, known as

citation. Japanese civil registration consists of a family register,

I believe it is a database, of 'photocopies'. Each one has a coded name which
is search-able, as the census is. The indexing is done on the name file with
the attachments (photos) following along. It doesn't matter if we disagree, I
would still handle it in Mills as a DB. This may be an instance
Hey all... thanks for the dialog.
Here's what I currently built, using the Cemetery Records template.

Oh that's handy! I hadn't realised that was there. (You're never too
old to learn!)

Hi Jan,

Legacy User Group guidelines:
I have a question & a request in relation to the answers (that I know I will
get).
When I set up my locations database I allowed for << street #, Street
name, Village/small town, Larger town/County, County/Province/Large City,
Country >> so that it is presented as << 35, Main Street, Queniborou
What you need to do is what I have, for different reasons. Go to the master
surname and/or location list. Choose 'Keep what I put' or something like that.
I use it to keep surnames like 'de la Ware' from becoming 'De La Ware' and 'of'
not changing to 'Of'. Also handles McDonald not Mcdonald.
