When I produce a rerport in PDF, it creates 185 pages for a complete ancestor book. However, when I do the same report in either Rich Text Format or Text Format, it never creates, but just keeps "Collecting". I wish to produce it in text so that I can proofread it and delete or add material withou

The only thing I can suggest is you Import from a Gedcom and then do a merge. On the merge I always do a manual merge due to the fact that I have multiple people with the same first and last name and don’t want the merge to accidently merge the wrong 2 people. Cynthia From: William Dukste

Bill, This is one of those areas when the old saying "Act in haste and repent in leisure." definitely applies. If you are not familiar with merging files, may I suggest you click on the help button and search for "merge/merging." There is one section called "Merging Family Files - Best Practices"

I prefer to merge, as I almost always find some things I have better, and some the other has better. I would suggest that you make a copy of your file and merge into that one, and when you are satisfied replace the older one with the updated one. And I have never had problems with merging wrong peo
