Dennis,
That was not directed at you personally. I just don't care about it
anymore enough to re phrase it.

Brian,
This is not directly connected with your specific inquiry, but I would draw
attention to the fact that should one wish to put folders and files on the
web the frequently will not work if they contain a space. This also applies
to URLs.

have you tried my example: 1.sample.fdb?

I have tried this with file name sample.evert.dijken.fdb
the backup (+ multimedia) has these names:

Tim,
In this case it would be expected to create the back-up OK because the only
period is that which denotes the file extension. Quite different from
"1.Rosenlof.fdb".
It isn't particularly unique, for example Yahoo will only allow one dot in a
person's ID. I have said many times on this list, a
I do have my main filename as Rosenlof.fdb, when Legacy backs it up,
"Legacy appends the date/time stamp with periods" Rosenlof 2011-03-18
6.05.58 AM.zip
No need to overwrite or rename on my end.

Here is my .fdb file name as well as my .zip Plenty of periods
Rosenlof.Beta.7.5.064 2011-03-18 6.05.58 AM.zip
Legacy appends the date and time with periods, so they must be ok There
is also the 'space' included.
Backs up fine/Restores fine with no complaints from Legacy

I don't need to retype anything, for Legacy appends the time/date so
that will change the file name each time.

During a backup legacy changes the filename from 1.sample to 1 that doesn't
seem right to me.
I myself don't have any problems because I never use filenames with a period
in it.
I'm just confirming there is a problem, but it's up to legacy staff to do
something about this or not.

Not true (anymore).
Legacy saves the file 1.sample.fdb ok, it's the backup zip file that's not
ok. So I suppose legacy is using zip software that cannot handle filenames
with more than 1 period.
If this is true and this cannot be fixed there should be a warning if a user
backs up a family file wit

In any MS product back to DOS there are 'forbidden' characters to be used in
file names, and since Legacy runs on MS Access, the rule applies, but in Legacy
7.0 manual I couldn't find the list. Example Period/dot can't be used because
