I don't know whom you're responding to, but when you search a word
processing file you just do controlF (for "find"), type into the search
box the word you're looking for -- & that's all there is to it.

Thanks Russ and all for your suggestions but I think I'm going to back off
trying to reconnect these pictures. They are pictures of census records and
if I try to print a report with them in it, the pictures of the census

What error message do you get? Did you print out the list that shows what media
files are missing? You may have had the picture attached to more than one place.

Walt,
It doesn’t matter in the slightest. Legacy does not store your image files,
only the path and file name, so you can put them where you wish. I keep my
census, BMD etc. images in my Dropbox folder, but where you put that is up
to you.
Legacy recommends that you keep all Legacy files in the

I only have c 5500 people in my database.
Even using .pdf creator, & choosing it as my printer, I wasn't able to
complete a .pdf.
So I created a text file (family group records for everybody) & imported it
into my word processor.

Michele,
I can't imagine searching it either :-)

The Master Picture/Sound Path List screen contains all the locations of the

And I might add to the good advice given by Russ by saying the next time you
need to change the name of a picture file, use the picture center.

Perhaps this would be cheating but I would try "Tools>Global Spell Check" . I
would bet your city name is not in the dictionary and would show as a

Dave,
Sorry I have not been back to you earlier, but have only just got back on my

Did you try with only “Individual Events” checked? If you did, then what was

That is correct, but I would suggest using a text reader such as Notepad++
