I am unable to find a source by its source list name. However, I do know
it is (now, temporarily anyway) source #692. How do I locate a source by
its number?
Thanks,

I think the advent of event sharing is making us think more carefully
about what we are sourcing. I think a halfway house here would be to
move the registration index to the marriage notes once it's detail has
been superseded, and of course it can still be sourced if necessary.

I noticed also that the date and time of the picture file in Windows did not
change when the filename was renamed by the Picture Center. That is important
when trying to determine which picture files have been changed and may affect
backup software when looking for changed files.

Thanks for determining the field size for Compiler Comments. That is way too
small for a reasonable "Preface". So my original proposal stands.

I always use the "Rename" on the Attached Pics tab of Picture Center. Just

Actually, there is no problem with having the 'live' files in the cloud,
at least with Dropbox - many of us here do that.
It's what you then do with that file stored in the cloud that counts -
do not open the same file
Many thanks to Jenny Benson for advising that the way to handle these files
is to publish them and handle them in image formats of choice. It works
nicely-now I can play around and have with them!
Much appreciated but why didn't dummy here realise that!

How about the Comments field in the Compiler Information (Options ribbon)?
Generic sources could be added to the Unspecified field of every
person in the Family File that it's applicable to. This source
wouldn't be included in reports or web pages, but you would see it.

collaborator or someone that inherits the database. The examples I gave show

Many of the cloud based drives will work fine for backup. The best way to

Such functionality would be great.

I thought there was a place to record general information about a database.
The logical place would be a notes field in Family File Information. Somewhere
that a "preface" to the database might be recorded including any rules or
special conditions which relate to the entire database. Example
