They can't. Gedcoms are text files and can't include graphics. You can do a multimedia backup and hope that the recipient's genealogy program will be able to link the pictures from the picture links in the gedcom. If you're sending the file to someone who's using Legacy, you'd want to back up the

There is M F and ? for Gender. As you might guess the ? is for unknown. Just click on the ? for the Gender when adding the child. In the Family View of Legacy 8 the Click to Add a Child menu has the option to add a child of unknown gender. That option will create a child with the ? already clicked
