Try restarting your computer and see if that resolves the problem. I suspect that the file has been opened in an add-on program, or the program crashed and the .LDB file wasn't released. Don't try deleting it - just try closing all programs and restarting your computer. Sincerely, Sherry Techni

Sorry - I should have added to *backup* the Family File (File > Backup File) before resetting the Event Sentence Definitions to default. That way you can restore the file with the edited Event Sentence Definitions if resetting them doesn't help. To reset the definitions, go to File > File Maintena

Tessa, My point was that if he edited the file in Access or changed Event Sentence Definitions, he *could* have done something that "broke" it. We do not recommend messing with the file in Access although many people do. Doing a simple query for a search shouldn't be a problem, but an update quer
