First off, I am not an LDS member or follower.

About 15 years ago, I looked on the LDS site for info on my fathers side of
the family.  They may have cleaned up their act by now but the information I
got was awful.  It was as if the submitters were in a rush to submit
whatever they could and did so.  There did not seem to be any supporting
documents required nor checked upon.  They did have a disclaimer though
which said to check with the submitter to correct any errors.  I checked
with several submitters and got a response from one of them.  He said that
he got the data from a member of his cheurch and was only the mechanic that
input the data and that he had lost track of the person he did it for.

I guess the bottom line is "buyer beware"!  Yes, it's free, but it still
applies.
