You are so right, Michele. I had 3 trees and ended up having to combine all three. Got a surprise when I did so. My g-g-father had entered a child as an adopted daughter in his family bible and also in the 1911 Canada Census. Turns out she was related to both my g-g-mothers on my mom's side!
