Items I have found on the internet (especially in Ancestry.com) which do
not have a full date (like a census event) have a format like the following
when I import them into Legacy:
Noted events in his life were:
• He had a residence in _-_-1910 in 896 Thomas Ave., Memphis Ward
27, Shelby,
down the User path to identify the attachment.
Does this sound correct?

one of the files to the proper location and it said I
needed administrator privileges to do so. What the heck is going on? How do
I fix this and stop it from recurring?

I also have version 9. I did the check Repair, but the duplicate citations
remain.

person. Same thing for other censuses. When I import the gedcom, I try to
weed these out, but I still have a lot of duplication. Is there a way to
clean this up easily?

I have a gedcom my cousin sent me made on family tree Maker of the Mac,
which contains over 1300 media files. When I import it into Legacy, the
media files don't show up. What can I do to see them?

Hi Tom,
Export to a New Legacy File (File - Export) and use the Privacy Options in
the export to suppress details for the living and use that file to make

I recently sprung for the Charting Companion for 435 or so to take

I am trying to print a descendant report which has dates for the non-living
and suppresses dates for living people. The only options on dates are all
or none.
I know if I do

Tom,
Have you tried resetting to the default settings for this particular
report and see if this clears up your problem?
On the Descendant Book Report Options page, see in the lower right hand
corner the box ‘Reset’

I created a descendant report for George X Sr.. I sent a pdf of the report
to a cousin to help fill in the blanks. I entered the information she sent
back, and reran the report, only to find that the previously missing info
was still missing, even though it is in the database. I ran a descendant
of the same couple.

Tom,
The log shows the corrections made, as far as I know. I trust that you
have repeated the check/repair until you get a clean sheet.

I use Roger's approach. The other key is to only export reasonably small
extracts from the Legacy database. By doing it in small chunks, the merge
process is more manageable.
