on the
device. I have the one without, which was a bit pricier, I think (gift, so I'm
not sure). Marianne

They are all proprietary to one book seller or the other. Most have
the capacity to download the free ebooks and more and more are being
able to take our Legacy with them.
Of course if you can't read the list must give you problems

Add to that http://www.archive.org which is full of free books and
covers the UK as well. When I am working on my genealogy I often find
people whose names tell me they are a branch of some of my families
and I google and very often find a book that I can use to figure the
line out

On Thu,
Thanks Mike.
Being it is just a reading device, I will pass it up. I had to take
third grade twice, and still don't know how to read.
Also proprietary to Amazon !
Thanks all,

kindle is not a computing device in the sense of a PC. It's an electronic book
reader - like a device that only reads PDF files.

I'm not particularly impressed with those. Google Books does a nice
assortment of old books that might be useful in genealogy - I am
speaking for the US researchers as I haven't checked others. They
include the county histories with local bios and lists of residents
that were popular in the 1870s a
