Thanks Ron. Will have to check my h/d - if there isn't enough room I may
have to try using an external h/d - he has a daisy chain of h/D's but they
are Mac formatted of course! Thank you for your guidance on this. Marion.

Marion,
If you have room on your Windows computer to store all the Mac photos, do that.
Once the photos that are linked to the database have been relinked, then
backup the clean Legacy database and the linked media. Copy the zip backup
files somewhere. Delete all the photos that you brought o
Ron at this stage I don't have a clue where he filed the media - there are
literally tens of thousands of different photos on his drives!

Sadly I am having to do this myself as he has joined the large family tree

you can see what sort of problem I am facing!

Marion,
You can go back to Reunion if you wish. That would be like having a Ferrari in
the garage and opt to drive the Yugo. Both might be fun but with different
outcomes. If your media files are not excessively scattered on the Mac, then
copy all of them to an external drive or USB stick and
Thank you Ron - sorry your email slipped into the spam box (despite the
fact I have all LUG replies marked to be accepted!!!).
It looks as though this could be a long and tiring exercise - I will study
the link in detail next week. At this stage I have no idea where his photos

I have converted Reunion files before. This article gives a lot of information
from an actual Reunions user. The conversion involves using a GEDCOM which is
the only way to move the information to another program like Legacy. With that
knowledge, you only need to realize that a GEDCOM does no
Thanks Bob - I had a feeling that was the case - have no experience with
Reunion (or Macs for that matter!) so this will be interesting!!!

Hi Marion,
A gedcom is a text only file, so photos, as such, do not 'come with the
gedcom'. There could be a pointer to the photo, if that is how Reunion handles
the files. I have no experience with Reunion.

As I said, I don't have a lot of experience with this area. I have no
idea how Reunion handles image files - in Legacy only a link to the
image on your computer is stored, not the image itself.
Exporting a GEDCOM will not affect the original Reunion file, and if you
import it into a new file in Le
Thanks you Wendy,
Do the photos come with the gedcom as well?? I have to transfer the whole
of the file over not just the details.

Hi Marion,
I expect you will need to export a GEDCOM file from the Reunion
database, and then import that file into Legacy (File > Import).
How you physically get the file from the Mac to the PC depends on what
resources you have there. If you share a Dropbox folder with your
husband, pop it into
Sorry - heading should have been Reunion on Mac to Legacy on PC!! Mind not

We have two different trees - mine on Legacy and husband on his Mac on
Reunion.
I am now going to have to transfer his tree over to Legacy. It doesn't have
to be linked to mine at the moment - I can do that later.
My problem is how can I transfer everything from Reunion over to my
computer (PC) t
