Interesting thread. I have requested this feature for some time and realize
the programming implications described by Sherry.
I am not LDS, however, I believe any genealogy program that does not tie in
closely to LDS de facto standards and programs is self-limiting.

Cheryl,
What you understand is correct. Legacy (Millennia) is a private company. The
owners' beliefs may determine the direction that the software takes, but
contrary to Joshua's comment(s) the Church does not control the content of
Legacy.

As with any company, the personal values and religious beliefs of the owners
influence how the company operates. It is Legacy’s prerogative to not have
same sex marriages within the program. If this is a problem for anyone then
they can use another software program that doesn’t have this limit
That's correct Cheryl. Legacy is not owned nor controlled by the
church.
Not only would it require extensive re-writing of Legacy's code to
allow same-sex relationships, there would also be a ripple effect that
would affect several of the Legacy add-on programs made by other
companies.
Sincerely

However, the Descendant Chart seems to work and the Family View is
acceptable.

Legacy won't let you do a same sex marriage or partnership. This may change in
a future version of Legacy, but version 8.0. There is a work-around. Before you
start, backup the family file. The first steps are exactly

I tried the “Unknown” and once I put them as married & the marriage date it

I just tried that; I get the message “You can’t link a Female as a Husband”
that is even with “Spouse” in place of the word husband.

Here's a thought as a stop gap. Can you mark both genders as unknown and add
the actual gender in notes? Not ideal, but it should solve the problem in the
short run.
My two cents for what they're worth...
