It sounds like you've got your colours set so that the field names
change to the same as the background colour when there is a source
assigned. Changing it should fix the problem, if that's the case.
Options > Customise > Colours > Click here to change user interface colours

I made a mistake and don't know how to correct it.
On the Individual's page I was attaching a source to
the Given name and Surname. I put my cursor in
front of the individual's name, then went over to hit
the button to apply the source. The source was applied,
but instead of the words
