Further to Jenny's suggestion - make sure you are trying to open the Legacy 8
database. It could be that you are looking at the Legacy 7 file and therefore
it doesn't recognize the format. Normally it would offer to do a conversion of
the file.

It appears that the profile.dbm file on your computer has been
corrupted. This file is where Legacy stores your global preference
settings from the options > Customize screens. Just close legacy then go
to the C:/users/Bruce/Documents/Legacy Family Tree\_AppData/usr folder
and delete the Profile.db
