Thank you for your responses. It's been such a long while using Virtual PC
that I forgot I had to install Windows on my Mac as well. Guess that's what I
was trying to avoid. Never liked the idea of Windows occupying my Mac --
seemed unnatural or something, and had to partition my hard drive.

I don't think there are any free version of software to run Legacy 8 on a
Mac other than Crossover.
I have had some problems with Parallels on being able to correctly find the
Drive path to Legacy files (e.g., C:\user\My Documents\Legacy Family
Tree\Data). Parallels wants to use the virtual
Crossover isn't free. It's the supported version of WINE and there's a
charge for it, although Legacy users get a discount.
WINE is free but unsupported. http://www.winehq.org/
I don't know if it works with v8 - since Crossover doesn't at this
time, I don't think WINE will work with Legacy.

Like Leon I use Parallels in combination with WIN7 and never have had
any problems.
I put Legacy on one side of the screen and on the other whatever
software I need to, like Safari browser or documents. I use Legacy 8.

interested. I use crossover and it worked fine with Legacy 7.5. I have not
tired 8.0 with crossover.

It trys to use the drives on the MAC side for searching files using the
File Relinker.
