The message you're seeing mentions the clipboard; the
message I got by doing the obvious did not, it flatly said
it would be deleted forever. Since this morning I couldn't
get that message, I don't know what was obvious to me
yesterday that isn't today, but doesn't matter now that
we've found what
I think you are misreading the message. I just checked in 7.4 build
7.4.0.6 and the remove button message clearly says the file will not be
erased.

Isn't this a Windows thing? Locate the image in Win
so that when you
attach it to the new person the caption and other stuff is attached also.

When you are in the Picture Gallery or Media Gallery - not sure what
it was called in 7.4 - highlight the picture you want to unlink and
click the Remove button in the right side panel. That just removes the link.

but how to do it it 8 is
left click on photo
then right click on photo
select cut
this removes it from the person and holds it in the photo clipboard so you
can paste it to another person if needed.
