Warning: huge blocks of text ahead (I'm attempting to be as detailed as
possible to avoid confusion, but I realize that that in itself might be a
bit overwhelming).

I've got a few computer monitors and computers that I'm hoping to sell or
trade. Ideally I'd like to end up with either a 23" Cinema HD Display
(plastic ADC model) or the original 22" Graphite ADC Cinema Display, but
I'm also willing to sell any or all if I am unable to find someone who
wants to do a direct trade. I also wouldn't be opposed to trading for an
aluminum DVI Cinema HD Display, but since the plastic ADC models tend to be
much cheaper and I already have a DVI-ADC converter I figure an ADC model
would probably be a better bet.

What I have:

20" ADC Cinema Display: very good condition with minor wear on the plastic,
working foot, bright and sharp screen with just one faint dark spot near
the top (it's very mild and is in a location that shouldn't interfere with
most graphics/video editing projects, ask for pictures). The colors are
deep and vibrant, better than the screen on my Intel iMac and approaching
the quality of the IPS screens on my iPhone 4S and Nook Tablet. I just
picked up this monitor recently, mainly to get the DVI-ADC converter that
came with it, and while it works beautifully I'd really rather try to track
down the 23" HD model. How about $60 plus shipping, or best offer?

17" Graphite ADC Studio Display (LCD): good physical condition with minor
wear and working foot, but medium-to-severe bruising all over the screen.
It looks pretty bad when the whole screen is one color, but it is almost
unnoticeable when displaying pictures, movies, or websites (I've got plenty
of photos to clarify). This would be a great companion to a rarely-used
Cube or early G4, perfect for display on a shelf or use as an iTunes hub,
DVD player, or the world's most magnificent digital picture frame, but
probably too annoying/inaccurate for constant use or precision
graphics/video work. Due to the large size and weight of this monitor as
well as the bruising it probably wouldn't really be worth shipping by
itself (they aren't that hard to find for around $50 or so shipped), but if
you are in the Houston area I can make you a deal, say $25 or best offer.

17" ADC Studio Display (CRT): the last and best Apple CRT monitor.
Fair-to-good physical condition, some scuffs here and there, the only major
problem is a crack in the plastic around the Apple logo on the front
(purely cosmetic, but in the worst possible location). The picture is
near-perfect, but the anti-glare coating had to be removed due to scuffing
and it could probably use some minor polishing if you plan to use it for
sensitive work (there is some minor swirling visible here and there at high
resolutions, due to the somewhat haphazard coating removal, but since this
is glass I doubt it would be much work to bring it back to perfection).
This would be a great monitor for graphic design or video, since it has a
color calibration system built-in for perfect color reproduction (requires
Mac OS 9-10.4, controls located in the Monitors control panel or Displays
preference pane). On the other hand, being a CRT it does take up a bit of
space and will be extremely expensive to ship (it weighs almost 50lbs), so
a local sale/trade would probably be best for this one. Let's say $40 or
best offer.

ViewSonic Optiquest Q19WB: a 19" 1440x900 mid-range widescreen VGA monitor.
Despite the VGA connection, it looks about as sharp and steady as my
digitally-connected ADC and iMac monitors. The picture is bright and the
colors are good once it has been calibrated, and it doesn't have any
bruising. The case is in good condition, but it is missing the stand (it
works fine when propped up and has what appears to be a standard VESA
mounting point on the back in addition to the proprietary foot mounting
point). It also has built-in speakers. How about $40 plus shipping for this
one?

Dell E152FPc: just a basic 15" 1024x768 VGA workhorse. This one has a few
scratches and two small dead spots (one hole the size of a pencil tip and
one that just looks like a stuck pixel, both of which stay white when the
screen is all black), but it doesn't seem to have any bruising and the
colors are bright and even. This would be best as a secondary monitor, to
keep menus and color palettes, since the imperfections would probably get
in the way of graphics/video editing. The case is in near-mint condition.
Since this monitor will fit (with the stand disassembled) in a standard
USPS Priority Flat Rate "board game" box, I'll go ahead and price it at $35
shipped ($30 if you want it shipped in a Priority Flat Rate medium box, but
be warned that it is pretty snug in one of those with minimal room for
bubble wrap or packing peanuts). If you are local, let's say $20 by itself
or $15 if you want it along with another monitor.

And, finally, I've also got a few computers I could trade or sell,
specifically a near-mint iMac G4 15", a nice 500mhz Power Mac G4 Sawtooth,
and a very uniquely-upgraded 17" PowerBook G4 (some fine print applies to
this one, it wouldn't just be a straight trade). Ask for more information.

As I said, I'm mainly interested in doing a trade for a 23" Cinema HD
Display with ADC connector, and my only real rule is that the screen be
essentially flawless (no major bruising or scratches, with any
imperfections preferably confined to the edges where they won't interfere
with graphics or video work). The aluminum DVI model would also be fine,
but I have a feeling that trading for one of those is unlikely due to their
considerably higher value on the used market, though if that is the case I
might also be willing to throw in my DVI-ADC adapter. And finally, I'd also
be interested in a 22" original Cinema Display, but it would have to be the
Graphite ADC model to match my Cube and priority will be given to any HD
model. Due to the size and weight of all these monitors I'd definitely
prefer to trade with someone in the Houston area, although I'd probably
still be willing to try and work out shipping if I can't find anyone nearby
(but if, for example, you wanted three of my monitors and my Sawtooth in
exchange for a mint Cinema HD Display shipping on my end alone could easily
end up costing $100, so we'd need to work out who pays what and it might
not be worth it in the end). If you are still reading and any of this
sounds interesting please send me a description of what you have and which
monitor(s) and/or computer(s) you'd want to trade for.

And if you want to buy rather than trade, keep in mind that the more
monitors you want the more flexible I am with my prices. Feel free to make
offers if you think anything is too high, but keep shipping in mind. I only
accept PayPal, though in the case of local purchases I would accept cash.

I've revised this post several times to try and make it all as clear and
straightforward as possible, but it still looks like it might be kind of
confusing so If you have any questions, or if you'd like pictures and more
detailed descriptions of any of the monitors, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Steven Fowler
