This is one of the original style MiniDrive MicroSD/MicroSDHC adapters. It allows you to install a MicroSD card in the SD slot of your MacBook Pro/Air so it does not stick out. This is great for adding semi-permanent storage, as MicroSD cards are much cheaper than replacing the SSD inside a Mac laptop! I don't think these are available anymore, but I have had mine for years and it has worked flawlessly.
This adapter is black plastic with a tab for easy removal. The tab tucks up over and in the top of the slot. I wish I could find a picture of this style, but it has been superseded by the newer designs that can be seen on the MiniDrive website.
