Hi Swappers, Today, I have a 12" iBook G4 that needs some attention. It accepts power and the optical drive wakes up, but it doesn't chime and the fan (or possibly HDD) kicks on VERY hard and loud immediately. The screen never turns on. If that problem is familiar and you have a fix, this is a great project iBook for you. If a potential buyer identifies the problem as motherboard issues, I'm happy to honor that diagnosis and lower the price accordingly.
Details: I have no information on specs other than model number: A1054. EveryMac.com says it could be the 800 MHz, 1.0 GHz, or 1.2 GHz model. It has the base 256 MB RAM and no AirPort Extreme card, though I can provide a 512 MB PC2100 stick and an APX card for extra. It has no battery, but I've charged other 12" batteries in it. Cosmetically, it's in A- shape. I can't speak to dead pixels, but the screen has no apparent scratches or gouges, and the hinges are perfect. The lid latch is still there and working fine. The rubber bumpers on the LCD corners are broken off so they're flush with the plastic. The outer case plastics are in good shape, normal scuffs and a small chip near the battery compartment, but no cracks. The keyboard has all keys, though the "n" is rubbed off. Light sweat stains on the wrist rest. It is missing all rubber feet. I'm asking $90 shipped for the iBook alone. I can add 512 MB RAM for an additional $15 and an AirPort Extreme card for another $20, bringing the total to $125 shipped. I will not sell the RAM or APX alone at this time, nor part out the iBook.
