meeting and interviewing such an interesting figure full of culture; is such
a pleasure in these dull days .to best describe the "BEAST OF BRIGHTON";would
be to say he/s a "social surrealist multi-instrumentalist hardcore wandering
minstrel"[in the genghis khan sense of the word].sharp radical
poetry,hardhitting songs are a fraction of this man/s talents.
he bring/s an interesting mix of medieval
punk across many lands including a hotel basement in albania[thomson holiday
advertised it for the tourists in there holiday brochure??].ATTILA/S AT THE
BAR
but i wont go on because i/m sure attila/s has plenty to
say?![he usually does].
your loves in life was the first question i asked ; attila
quickly told me he especially missed his lover Robina on his many raids
across the world.he went onto say although he enjoys wandering many lands;he
always looks forward to coming home to his lover, to a real pint of ale, to
his hobby-fishing,and to his football-Brighton & Hove Albion.
on the question of ale i asked attila how many pints of
ale he could drink a day???; i was quickly told more than Willie Hague
could!![and it was real ale].
your perceptions of a punk rock poet may be of a rabble
rousing hard drinker;but attila/s a very man full of culture.he told me about
his love of his garden[see his poetry books for proof of this]; his fondness
of fishing.but his love of nature goes further than planting this and
that;attila has a pet Tarantula and pet American Bullfrogs.his small garden
pond is sanctuary to wandering rare Newts[but as i said earlier,read his
poetry books to hear these tales].
im sure youve got a sense of humour or you wouldnt be
in the scene you are; so what sort of humour makes you
tick??.wickedness,satire and subversion came forth.quickly after the hated
type of comedy spawed forth; of the ' normal' corporate gravy train
spotting.like adverts for ........beer,endless .........game shows.
id heard rumours that attila had been asked to do the comparing at
the opening of the millenium dome;is that true i asked.i also asked what he
thought of the dome.a quick reply came forth .......................a rant of
strong words directed at me and the dome bounced of me onto the wall behind.
i quickly got onto the subject of music!!;attila/s ears
pricked and a note of the Clash flowed from attila/s mouth.the early demonic
days of punk always hold a section close to my heart he explained; it was
mainly a working class uprising of rant and art.the Clash upheld those
principles for a while with those lyrics sounding as if theyd been plucked
straight from the bible of marx.there mix of orthodox punk with slices of
reggae; really did help to bring the sound of rebellion to the masses.but
attila did mention his like of Marc Bolan ; and mentioned his new cd has a
Marc Bolan tribute song on it.he/s used it in conjunction as a explanation to
the hudinui of justice "SCUM BALL PINOCHET". attila also payed tribute to all
the artists hed performed with during his many tours[ive seen him perform on
many of these gigs;all the bands tell me that if attila isnt allowed to go on
last he throws a wobbler].

heroes then.is it true Neville Chamberlin is one of
them??.............;TITO.yes TITO was one of my favourite historical heroes.a
man who brought a number of different people together against all odds; to
live in peace for years under one banner.he then said listen to my song
"SARAJEVO"; 10 years after the fall of the Berlin wall .millions and millions
of people all over eastern europe feel betrayed and exploited;lied to and in
the case of what they laughingly called 'formerYugoslavia'.far worse;Sarajevo
is for them."TITO WAS RIGHT".
the subject of europe always causes a chill to my
heart.its near destruction from the two world wars its had ;basically caused
through ultra nationalism.and now after two warnings, we still dont learn
from those unforgettable near escapes.which could of led to a unrecognizeable
world.people in britain havent learnt;the far right obtained thousands of
votes in the recent elections.cant people translate the similarities in
history ??.
i basically know what happened with the issue of Brighton
Football Club; i saw you one saturday on football focus slumped in a black
swivel type?chair[ MASTERMIND type ].i thought ; i know that voice!!.i did it
was attila the stockbroker ranting to ralph dellor or whoever!!.
so let us know the dodgy dealings of a pack of
jackals attacking a wounded animal!;it was !!.the club was in financial ruin
and was bought for peanuts and sold for profit.the repeat affair carried on
and the position of the club in the league was approaching that of ACCRINGTON
STANLEY[NO OFFENCE].the venue of our home games were taken to a place that we
might aswell of given them a goal head start !!.but football is not football
anymore;its the same old tale of money ruling everything to the degree of
unsanity.

i asked him where his name came from;he
told me.it derives from when he worked on the stock exchange for a few
months[my only so called 'normal' job].the attila bit comes from the
hungarian poet"JOZSEF ATTILA"..............and i thought it was after attila

album theve produced is the best;are you going to tell me that?.i knew the
answer as id seen the sleeves of his new cd!!...................ummmmmm
yes[what a suprise!].
a smile lit up his face as he told me its the most subversive
material hes wrote;he says that hes now in a position to produce the most
creative and subversive material hes ever done.it gives me pleasure and
satisfaction of doing what i love.entirely on my own terms; the enjoyment and
sparks it gives me increases year by year.
those snarling smiles give me the
impression that his po box should of been 666 and not the godly 668!!.he went
on to speak of his band [the fish brothers and tim o'tay.............who if
you see looks like russ abbott;so keep an eye out for him].he told me when he
first met them he was impressed by there musicianship and drinking
abilities.but now hes really impressed with the music side of the partnership.
BARNSTORMER have had alot of feedback and have had call
for many gigs and tours.so who can we put barnstormer along side with such a
celebrity leading a bunch of crusty talented musicians.
ill let you readers answer that one!!

commentator ;a master of finely crafted prose and verse .just like my mentor.

asked to write for music magazines ;i became trendy due to the music scene i
was envolved with.i still performed and produced material but the scene died
off just as i started to produce my best material.i wasnt trendy though ; so
like countless bands and artists before me became in the eyes of the press no
good!!.i made my feelings clear and broke from the mainstream scene which was
changing to become unchallenging and boring to fit in the trendy scene.
so from those days to today ive stood on my own two feet being
radical; and most important being free of the trendy
,boring,gutless........of the mainstream .........
NEW LABOUR attila ???; what do you reckon??.a dodgy new
romantic band or a NEW WORLD ORDER MASONIC code for "all you working class
downtrodden people vote for me after 20 years of draconian rule;give me a
massive majority and well whip you and trip you even more badly than the last
lot of heroes did.but in a more subtle way".

me; a copy was requested and recieved in a matter of days.it was frenzily
unwrapped and literally slung into the cd player.
theres never a dissapointment with attila;whether its
a live gig or new material.the mix of punk rock ,renaissancecore[medieval
music]and a slither of sussex crust; delivers the usual messages from the
merry minstrel.these messages may have been heard before.but as attila warns
us!! ;need to be heard again and again!!.
the album slides into "HAIDER"; a classic modern version
of a well known anti-fascist warning from a long time ago.this message as the
earlier one was a simple one;but do we learn????.

song is alot deeper than its ska based roots.this is an explanation why
ATTILA hasn't chosen the trendy route of alot of so called alternative
comedians into "BLAND COMEDY".

message.the message in "SCUMBALL PINOCHET"; is extremely easy.it was so easy
that so many people like me and you understood what was happening.BUT DID
JUMPING JACKIE STRAW!!??.[its delivery in T-REX style makes you laugh a

tackled."THE WORM AND THE ARCHER" is a historical chapter of the battle to
keep brighton football club playing there home games in brighton and not the
other side of the universe.
the sun newspaper is tackled "HIS MASTERS
VOICE"is for all those who think the sun to be the paper of the people.theres
even a track about a commie spy["ANOTHER COUNTRY"],an albanian country and
western song["THE BALLARD OF COMRADE ENVER"].
the title track "JUST ONE LIFE"; is a ballad of self
preservation.if someones having a dig; just quote "BIGOTS AND HYPOCRITES CAN
ALL GET LOST".but perhaps the most appropiate song is his
