I put a book diff in my home dir, incorporating your changes above (and modified ones below), so that if you like, you can compare any other of your build instruction changes with the ones I had ready. It will be very nice to have only 3 patches, and somebody else going to town on the dependents. Of course, I completely skipped proof reading of the supporting text and what not, but it applies and validates and the instructions are accurate to the previous update 1. Also, I botched the index item changes a couple of weeks back, so got to do them all over again. Anybody wants to build it, don't forget to grab Randy's gcc-4 patch above instead of the one in the patches repo.
