I am just hoping for a confirmation that I'm doing ok here.
I think I'm not supposed to need autoconf in chapter 5.
But I'm being conservative (since I have failed to build LFS 5 times so
far).
Details below. Most important first.

Any thoughts on why configure found it not to work?
I am concerned that whatever kept autoconf from working would have other
effects - ones that matter.
