I have a few updates to share with you all in regards to this issue:
1. Not only does the terminal fail to recognize the uppercase 'M' when
typing SHIFT+M or CAP+M, it also fails to recognize it in copied text when
attempting to paste from another source like the book.
For example, the text "Make

Unfortunately, nothing happened on the terminal when I tried that.
