Hey there,

hope this mail finds you well. As suggested by @liberationtech on Twitter
(great sharing, I really love it!), I post my question here. As I follow
the discussion since a while, I do wonder how my current project does fit
into or relate to this framework.

*How does ( OFFTIME ) <http://youtu.be/z4mbYqq_15k> fit into the category
of liberation technologies? *

The digital age is great without doubt, it moves human knowledge to our
finger tips and beyond hierarchies. However, in many countries people are
already stick behind their devices all the time and the business model of
most big internet companies is to keep people online and engaged.

( OFFTIME ) lets you decide what is important right now. For example you
can block and keep out all tempting apps or distracting phone calls and
text messages; this way you can go back to concentrating on your work, on a
chat with a friend or simply to give you a moment of peace and quiet. We
believe that this can help way you can be more efficient, creative and
recharge the batteries properly. For more information on the (OFFTIME)
application, we have a short video which was made for our current
crowdfunding campaign--it's running till Friday midnight, Berlin
time--which can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/z4mbYqq_15k

We want to support people when they choose to disconnect from the digital
world, without missing out by providing a smart filter, good summary and
some active intervention for anyone that wants to #unplug. From a
psychological perspective is it quite clear: Our survival depended so long
on access to social information, our reward system adapted to it - Social
Media is as important as food and sex and for this reason it is not very
easy to get off the grid for most people. We use psychological knowledge
and the exchange with our community to develop (technical) solutions that
make you productive again and support your well-being.

How would you see it relate to your definition and working usage of liberation
technologies?

Thanks a lot already in advance!

Best regards from Berlin,
alex
