Regarding the suggestion of a duplicate search in comment 50, I've done a few
quick searches of the bug tracker. Searching for "transparency" gives around
64 matches, most of which seem to be related to gradients

FYI, cups version 1.5.4 (as supplied in Slackware 14.0) is still affected.
That is, when printing to a colour printer from Libreoffice on a system running
cups 1.5.4, the transparent rectangle in attachment 75023
