Meaning the input field would always be sensitive. How do you interpret the
situation when a user enters a range and changes then to Selection? Sounds like
a bad idea.

Yes, now you have understood correctly.
If the intention is to export just select pages from the document, clicking the
input field next to the "Pages" radio button already indicates that you are
