I can confirm that this bug is still valid in 6.1.3.2 Ubuntu 18.04. However I

I can confirm that references to chapter numbers disappears, both, from
captions and cross-references on update. Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit.
Field update can be done also by Ctrl+A with following F
