I don't believe this would make much of a difference in speed, and would
conflict with displaying the templates where they are currently displayed in
the Start Center. And a dropdown is not suited to what I count as 32 default
templates (in LO 7.5). To me, a clear "won't fix".

That makes sense to me. It is already tracked in bug 126404, so marking as a
duplicate so it gets more visibility.
