Did that problem appear immediately after an update?
All facts seem to show that this is an other problems with existing profile
after update

I uninstalled old versions of Java [I had 32 64 bit versions of 1.6.0_22,
1.7.0_02], installed just the 32 bit version of 1.7.0_05. No improvement
though, still
