According to
http://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Starting_the_Software_With_Parameters
executing soffice.exe --minimize will "Starts minimized. The splash screen is
not displayed."
Indeed the splash screen is not displayed but the program window opens normally
(i.e. not minimized to the taskbar)
