I got the very same behaviour under LO 4.3.4.1 Linux : my server requires SSL
and port 465.

I've encountered this annoying problem in both 4.2 and 4.3 release on both
Linux and Windows. Thx to Andrea Tessadri regarding the self.server setting.
But this isn't sufficient if the SMTP server doesn't expect STARTT

LibreOffice sends these mails via python see mailmerge.py for details. Its not
a difficult script to understand. Someone who has the problem should have a

I have the exact same bug, same behavior and everything, on 64-bit Ubuntu
13.04, with Libre Office 4.0.2.2.
Since my university's SMTP server requires SSL and port 465, until this is
fixed I cannot use Libre
