After trying out more things, it appears that once I remove libreoffice-gtk,
the crashes stop. So the gtk integration seems to be the culprit here.

Solved!
Changing the gtk theme to the system default seems to have completely fixed the
problem.

I'm a Windows user and I've never experienced such issue.
I suggest to uninstall 4.2.3.3 then do a clean install of 4.2.4.2 which is
the current up to date version
