Bug ID: 91648 Summary: LibreOffice Keeps Seizing Uo, Forcing Manual Restart & Document Recovery Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2.8.2 release Hardware: x86 (IA32) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: oldef...@cox.net Writing a report of some ideas, trials, and results using LibreOffice as my journal writer. This went on for hours last night as I added, modified, deleted text in the journal file I am creating. I also did repeated copy-and-paste operations with text from other sources rather than repeat it all by key entry. During those hours last night, I repeatedly, maybe once an hour, would suddenly find that LibreOffice had suddenly stopped echoing keystrokes. The mouse pointer could be moved, but nothing in LibreOffice was responding. Even on the menu bar, the mouse behaved strangely, showing a vertical bar for the cursor instead of a pointer (in my case, an arrow). I could not move or resize the opened windows. I could not close anything or save the work at hand. I could not start or stop any applications. LibreOffice had seized up on me, disrupting normal mouse and keyboard activities. My PC was now almost completely stalled. I could not log out. What I found I could do is use the mouse and still do a Restart or Shutdown. I repeatedly did restarts during the night, then reopened the journal file and had LibreOffice perform a repair/recovery process, which it was successful at. I would keep loosing changes and additions to the journal file when this happened, always the most recent work I was involved in. Getting back most the file contents was great, but it would disrupt anything that I might have had uoened and doing at the time the seizure took place, and meant a lot of other work had to be restored as well as repeating the lost steps in the journal, si I count this as a major problem that needs to be resolved. ============================================================================== An incidental issue is that when copying plain text from another file, the horizontal spacing between vertical columns is screwed up, so the columns appear skewed back and forth instead of being vertically stacked when the paste is done. And the consecutive individual lines (each terminated with the Enter key) in the selected block from a plain text file may then be pasted into the journal, but seen as though double spaced. This cannot be adjusted out. Repeated attempts only show it was stuck in this mode of pasting at this particular place in the file being handled by LibreOffice. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
