Programming puns, every free software user's favorite thing that never gets old, right? The FSF is prepping to launch a tshirt design for this year's LibrePlanet conference, and it's going to include the slogan "fork the system." We want the back of it to have a bunch of lines of code in

Sorry, I don't think this pun is going to work. fork() is not an operation than one can perform on another process. fork() operates on the current process. I.e., theSystem can fork() itself, but it doesn't make sense to talk about _doing_ fork() _to_ theSystem from outside. Concretely: "fork()"

I think the Git-related take on this joke is the best one - it makes more sense than the programmatic one in my opinion, mainly for reasons explained by Scott. Also, Zak - are you, by any chance, seeking a designer to do this work? I'd be happy to help! I've done some design work in the past,

Hi David, While I agree with you that the t shirt should be cool so as to inspire and provoke conversation with others about the free software movement, any and all of us are free to create our own ideas, designs and produce a few t shirts. There are multiple free software tools for creating

No comments on the pun(ishment), but a couple of thoughts on T-shirt design / selection... Makes a BIG difference on whether or not I will even consider purchasing a given shirt, no matter what its for... 1. Black or dark colors hold up and will be worn FAR longer than light colors / pastels
