I know I can get around the problem manually (although extracting the
README file that is supposedly from 1970 is a bit more work), it would
be good to fix the date on the README file and make the aliases not the
default or give them names that don't conflict with Cygwin the
"built-in", head, o
ver, on Windows, alas, HEAD is the same as head.
Can you either, (a) not make the aliases by default, or (b) for windows
make different aliases?

I'm having problems running the tests for libwww-perl-5.69. It builds
okay, but a number of the tests fail.
I'm running perl, v5.8.0 built for cygwin-multi-64int.
Has anyone encountered this and have a fix?
If not, how do I debug this?
