I found the problem, the HTML shows tildes (~) rather than quotes
("). The PDF is fine (though copy and paste doesn't work as well). I
assumed it was a Lift or Scala weirdness.
Next question, where to file a bug about this?

Ah ha! Found the problem. The HTML shows tildes (~) instead of
quotes ("). The PDF looks OK, but cut and paste doesn't work very
well (formatting spaces lost, extra info like page numbers if copied
across a page boundry).
So the new question is if there is a place to log the error with the
HT
This looks like a problem with the HTML. According to the
corresponding PDF, many of those tildes in the HTML should actually be
quotation marks. I'd recommend using the PDF here:
