Hi,
I don't know anything about Lilypond's code, but was just wondering how
much/whether Lilypond 2.4.x still uses TeX for typesetting of text on
scores?

This is a known annoying problem (not only) with ancient notation, but

not in the bad old latin1 encoding - if they are written with TeX
markup, the spacing is bad. May I ask for an explicit announce in the
ChangeLog, if it is fixed either for TeX output or for PS output

I have now created a lilypond_2_4 branch of the bug repository. Bugs in 2.5
will go into the MAIN branch, bugs in 2.4 will go into the lilypond_2_4
branch.
