in the enclosed example, the second voice should have the lyrics as does
the second staff. What am I doing wrong?
I am using lilypond-1.6.5 (cygwin).

is it possible to do with lyrics what a HaraKiriStaff does with
notes (that is, let it not take up any space where there is no
text)? If this is not possible automatically, a way to do it
manually would do as well. I need this for a piece of choral
music where there often is the same text for

I'd like to prepare music for a less experienced player. As this person
approaches music, I recommend that they start by playing the downbeats
(to keep up with the ensemble), and then more of the quarter notes, and
later add the eighth notes.
