Hi all,
I was browsing around the mutopia-project and I saw this piece, F. Chopin: Prelude
(Op. 28, No. 1) for Piano, by Donald Axel.
The shock for me was for just about a page of music, there's about over 800 lines in

Yesterday I spent 6 hours and only completed 3 pages of

Well, I saw more than one screen of changelog entries to begin with!
(It was meant in a quite positive way.)

Ah, it's all in comments. I'll have a look how to build the docs.
Greetings,

If you're into serious grunting: the code is in lily/beam.cc,

Firstly & most importantly a big thankyou to everyone involved in Lilypond for such an

Hi,
For me, \newpage in at bar lines do nothing, but \\newpage in piece
header is fine.
For instance :

If it isn't yet "officially" possible (although I like your hack!), I
would absolutely LOVE to see it as a feature in a future release.
(Consider that a subtle hint to the developers!)
More specifically, it would be cool to be able to specify the number of

there is no native mechanism for this. i hacked it a while ago by making
two simultaneous beamed note-groups, with the beams tilted opposite
directions in each, and tweaked so the beam star
You can add a page break using the command \newpage. Just as
\break for line breaking, it will only work at bar lines.
For the moment, there's no way to prevent page breaks, but often
you can control it by adding them manually where you want them.

HI !
I've been trying to understand messages about that pb, but I can't find out how to
force page breaks
with Lilypond 2.0.
My score is divided in little verses (it's a Folia), and I'de like to avoid turning
pages during a
verse. How can I do it ?
Thanks

Sorry, now I realize what you mean. Extending the staff lines turns out
to be a fairly simple exercise, however I have not managed to place the

I don't understand what problem you have without having seen the
actual code. If you don't wish to send the full file to the

and I will try to take a look.

This doesn't appear to have fixed my problem, but it has forced me to
tidy up my code a lot, so thanks anyway!
At the end of the process though, the lyrics were still unevenly aligned
and the skip rests caused a few barcheck problems too. However, I did

Ragged right does not extend the staff lines to the end of the page.
This is important even for the last line of music (after the last

Looks a lot like the way I do things; I'll often do stuff like:

One solution is to use the \RemoveEmptyStaffContext and simply insert
multimeasure rests in the second stave. Then, LilyPond will
automatically remove the second stave and the opening brace on the
lines where there are no notes.
Example:

Hi,
Nice to hear another cornet player using Lilypond ;)
I'm guessing, but I think that each "\context Lyrics" is creating a new
separate context, so that they are stacking up vertically.
I'm not near a Lilypond to try it, but try "\context Lyrics = LONE"
instead and see if that helps.
