My piano teacher Angela Bonilla is from Colombia. She's not on the
list, but expressed an interest in learning Lilypond after I gave her
hardcopies of my scores.
I expect that if she does learn Lilypond, she'd want to subscribe.

It's defined in music-functions-init.ly (as a Scheme function). The
exact cause of the rejection of `^' and `_' is buried deeply in
lily/parser.yy -- I haven't understood

OK I see. Thank you. I was expecting a default perc clef to act as a
treble clef.

Almost like it is acting as an alto clef. Using Lilypond 2.11.20.

Is there a definition of \tweak given somewhere in some .scm file?
Or is it defined in C++ code?

I'm using NoteNames for some demos. There are 2 items I want to
change.
1. I'm including english.ly, but "as" is output as "ais". Is it
possible to change the language?
2. "ais" and "b" are right next to each other. With lyrics, I can
change spacing. Is this possible with NoteNames?

Hi all,
I have some smaller staves in my score. I got them
by scaling StaffSymbol and fontSize (as shown in the
"staff-size.ly" example in the Tips and Tricks section).
However, the Musica Ficta Accidentals in these staves
are too big. They don't seem to be scaled.
How can I override the size of

Oh, that is great! Thank you so much. This is gonna be great!

Why not use \melisma and \melismaEnd to indicate the melismas.
This will solve all slur related problems that you see. If you think
it's too much to type, you can define shorthand commands like
m = \melisma
me = \melismaEnd
and use them like
d \m cis bes c! \me

Hello,
While making scores of Renaissance vocal music, I place the
lyrics below the notes using invisible slurs.
In this kind of music when using suggested accindentals, the
distance of the accidentals from the notehead is larger,
when placed above an (invisible) slur.
Lilypond gives me the follo
hi all
has anyone yet figured out how to get the bounding box right when
using eps using --backend=eps and ? mine are all wrongly cropped in
2.10.20
also (at least on osx), the -b option isn't there in 2.11.20 - is
that right? or have things changed re eps?
cheers

The \override command as it is written in the manual, is intended to be
inserted before the first note in any of the staves.
If you wish, can also insert such an override command in a \layout block,

\Score
\override VerticalAxisGroup #'remove-first = ##t

One solution is to insert a \markup command that takes some vertical space,
such as
\markup{\pad-to-box #'(0 . 0) #'(0 . 100) \null }
Replace the 100 with whatever number you prefer. As always, the unit of
measurement is the spacing between two staff lines.
