Yes, I specified a different font and it does have kerning pair information.
I tested it and works (partially) in markups but not at all in lyricmode so I
thought that kerning maybe is not supported in lyricmode or that it has to be
activated somehow (like in ms word).

For the musicxml2ly application, I'm looking into how to convert cross-staff
chords in PianoStaves (i.e. chords that have some notes in the upper and some
in the lower staff). The documentation talks about these in

Lilypond doesn't work on Leopard as it did on Tiger.
I upgraded my system (install new system with keeping of
settings). If I try to run the unix commandline executables
I get the message

I'm a bit puzzled about how to go about something. A \paper block can
contain a number of things influencing vertical spacing. A \layout
block can contain some of the same things that a \paper block can
contain (unless I'm mistaken). While \paper blocks influence the entire
