This is a clear bug, which is a regression againts version 2.10.
I forward it to bug-lilypond. Perhaps Graham finds the example
too complicated, so it would be good if you can reduce it to a
minimal example that illustrates the same problem.
The problem may be somewhat related to

It appears that 2.11 is trying to keep single staves from occupying their
own (last) page. That's a good idea too but, at least in my case, it seems
to be doing so at the expense of good lyric spacing in a ChoirStaff.
Lyrics should be equidistant from higher and lower staves, right? Instead

Hello, all!
Trevor offered
If any of the developers are looking for a sponsored project,
I would be happy to help sponsor this improvement
I second the offer -- especially if, as Trevor suggests, the fix handles
(1) non-grouped staves (e.g., not necessarily in a PianoStaff or
StaffGroup)

There are - at least - two ways.
The quick and dirty one is to substitute the _ _ _ by \repeat unfold

(where 20 should be the number of notes).
The more elegant way can be found here:

Hi Lilypond Team
Thank you very much for this great product. I love Lilypond! It helps me a lot
for learning my stuff on Sax.
This Weekend i did buy Mac OS X 10.5 and it seems that Lilypond doesnt work
on it. The program hands during start up.
Is there a fix coming soon?
Best Regards

a natural and a sharp sign before the g.
now I want the natural sign to disappear but can't figure out which
accidental-style I have to use.
regards,
Tao
